LSSSSB Announces Recruitment for 6 Drugs Control Officer Posts in Ladakh

The Ladakh Subordinate Services State Selection Board (LSSSSB) invites online applications for 6 Drugs Control Officer posts under the UT cadre. Candidates must apply through the official website (lssssb.ladakh.gov.in) and ensure compliance with eligibility criteria, including resident (domicile) status, age limit, essential qualifications, and category requirements. Applications are provisional, and candidature may be cancelled at any stage if eligibility conditions are not met.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Essential Qualification: Degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Medicines with specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology from a University established in India by law.
  • Age Limit (as on 01.01.2025):
    • General: 18–40 years (born between 01.01.1985 and 01.01.2007).
    • ST: Up to 45 years (age relaxation applicable).
    • Age verification based on Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate; no subsequent changes allowed.
  • Application Fee:
    • ₹200 (payable via Net-Banking/Credit/Debit Card/UPI).
    • PwBD candidates are exempt.
    • Non-refunded fee; incomplete applications due to non-payment will be rejected.
    • Separate fee required for each post category applied.

Selection Procedure

  1. Application Screening: Valid applications receive roll numbers and admit cards for the written examination.
  2. Written Examination: OMR-based, objective-type multiple-choice questions.
    • Paper-I: General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language (100 marks, 1 hour).
    • Paper-II: Specific to Drugs Control Officer role (100 marks, 1 hour).
  3. Minimum Qualifying Marks:
    • UR: 35%
    • EWS: 30%
    • Other categories (e.g., ST): 25%
  4. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must provide original and self-attested documents. False information leads to candidature cancellation.
  5. Counselling: Vacancy allocation based on merit, category, and candidate preference.
  6. Appointment: Issued by the department after verifying eligibility, antecedents, and character.
  7. PwBD Candidates: Eligible for unreserved vacancies if selected on merit and the post is suitable.

Examination Syllabus

Paper-I (Graduate Level, 100 Marks, 1 Hour)

  1. General Intelligence (25 Marks): Verbal and non-verbal questions on analogies, problem-solving, coding-decoding, spatial visualization, arithmetical reasoning, etc.
  2. General Awareness (25 Marks): Current events, history, culture, geography, economic scene, polity, and scientific research, focusing on India and neighboring countries.
  3. Quantitative Aptitude (25 Marks): Arithmetic, percentages, ratios, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and data interpretation (e.g., histograms, pie charts).
  4. English Language (25 Marks): Tests comprehension, grammar, and writing ability.

Paper-II (Drugs Control Officer, 100 Marks, 1 Hour)

  1. Forensic Pharmacy (25 Marks): Drugs and Cosmetic Act, Pharmacy Act, Drug Price Control Order, etc.
  2. Manufacturing Pharmacy (15 Marks): Tablets, capsules, parenteral preparations, quality control, etc.
  3. Pharmaceutical Analysis (10 Marks): Limit tests, bio-assays, sterility tests, colorimetry, etc.
  4. Medicinal Chemistry (10 Marks): Structure, storage, and brand names of steroids, antihistamines, analgesics, etc.
  5. Pharmacognosy (10 Marks): Sources, uses, and chemical constituents of natural drugs (e.g., Rauwolfia, Belladonna, Opium).
  6. Pharmacology & Toxicology (10 Marks): Drug interactions, bioavailability, adverse reactions, biostatistics, etc.
  7. Hospital & Clinical Pharmacy (10 Marks): Prescription handling, drug storage, clinical pharmacy.
  8. Anatomy, Physiology & Health Education (10 Marks): Blood, digestive system, first aid, AIDS control, etc.

Application Process

  • Portal: Apply online at lssssb.ladakh.gov.in (available from 04.08.2025).
  • Closing Dates:
    • Application submission: 03.09.2025, 6:00 PM.
    • Fee payment: 04.09.2025, 6:00 PM.
  • Requirements:
    • Upload a recent passport-size photo (5KB–1MB, JPEG/JPG/PNG, 3.5cm x 4.5cm, 60–70% face coverage, no cap/spectacles) and signature (3KB–1MB).
    • Provide active email and mobile number for communication.
    • Print application for document verification.
  • Admit Card: Download from LSSSSB website; not sent by post.
  • Photo ID: Carry valid ID (e.g., Aadhaar, Driving License, Passport) with date of birth matching the application.
