Aurigene, a development-stage biotech company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd., is seeking an experienced and visionary leader for the position of Associate Vice President / Vice President (Head) – Discovery Biology. The role is based in Bangalore and focuses on advancing novel therapies for cancer and inflammatory diseases.
Key Responsibilities and Competencies
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in drug discovery. Key responsibilities include:
- Strategy & Pipeline: Defining and executing the discovery biology strategy across various modalities (small molecules, antibody/ADC, and cell & gene therapy) and building a robust pipeline of novel targets.
- Scientific Innovation: Driving innovation by integrating emerging technologies, translational insights, and external collaborations.
- Program Oversight: Overseeing multiple discovery programs from target identification to IND-enabling studies, ensuring seamless transition to clinical development.
- Team Leadership: Leading, mentoring, and inspiring a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of scientific rigor and accountability.
- Collaboration: Partnering closely with various internal functions (medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, clinical development) and external partners (academic institutions, CROs).
- Compliance: Ensuring high-quality science, robust data, and compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
Desired Profile
- Education: Ph.D. in Cell & Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related field, with post-doctoral experience.
- Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in drug discovery within biopharma/biotech.
- At least 5+ years in senior leadership roles.
- Proven track record of advancing multiple programs across therapeutic modalities (small molecules, antibody/ADC, cell & gene therapy) from discovery to IND/early clinical stage.
- Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in oncology, immuno-oncology, or rare diseases.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of target biology, pharmacology, biomarker discovery, and translational sciences.
- Skills: Experience in managing external collaborations and partnerships.
