
Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories is seeking a highly experienced professional for the role of Lead, Intellectual Property Management (IPM). This senior-level position, based in Hyderabad, is responsible for managing all aspects of intellectual property for the company’s biologics, NCE/NBE programs, nutraceuticals, and drug formulations. The role requires a strong understanding of global regulatory and patent law.
Key Responsibilities
The IPM Lead will oversee a broad range of IP functions, including:
- Product Clearances: Designing and executing search strategies for new product concepts and preparing patent assessment and freedom-to-operate (FTO) reports.
- Product Ideation & Selection: Conducting prior art searches, recommending non-infringement/invalidity strategies, and advising cross-functional teams on patent trends to optimize the product portfolio.
- IP Creation & Prosecution: Developing preliminary IP strategies, designing patentability assessments, and managing the drafting and filing of patent applications. The role involves preparing responses to patent office actions and ensuring timely prosecution to achieve desired IP outcomes.
- Licensing: Performing IP due diligence for in-licensing and out-licensing activities, identifying IP-related business risks, and supporting business teams in licensing agreements.
- Competitive Intelligence: Monitoring the competitive landscape, tracking competitors’ IP activities, and proposing new IP creation opportunities to enhance product market life.
- Indian Patent Portfolio Management: Managing the filing, prosecution, and compliance of all Indian patent applications and patents, including pre- and post-grant requirements.
- Pre-litigation Support: Developing preliminary arguments and defenses for pre/post-grant oppositions in key territories.
- Team Management: Guiding and training team members, reviewing their IP activities, and managing the clearance process for publications and trainee theses.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: A minimum of 12+ years of experience in an Intellectual Property (IP) function.
- Qualification: M.Pharm in Pharmaceutics, Industrial Pharmacy, or Medicinal Chemistry.
- Desirable Qualifications: A degree in LL.B. (Law) or an Indian Patent Agent qualification is highly desirable.
- Skills: The candidate must have a broad understanding of pharmaceutical product development, global regulatory and patent law, and proficiency in using patent and regulatory databases.
