The CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR-IMTECH), a premier research and development establishment of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), has invited applications from enthusiastic and accomplished researchers for various scientific positions. The institute, devoted to cutting-edge research in Microbial Biology and Biotechnology, is seeking bright and talented individuals to fill three vacancies for the post of Scientist Gr. IV (2).
CSIR-IMTECH conducts multidisciplinary research across key areas including Molecular Microbiology, Microbial Genetics, Genomics, Host-Microbe Interaction, Structural Biology, Drug Designing, Applied & Environmental Microbiology, and Bioinformatics.

Note: The total emoluments figure is an approximate calculation for a Class ‘Y’ City and includes Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), and other admissible allowances. Age relaxation for the SC category is applicable to the post reserved for them.
Detailed Vacancy Requirements
The three vacancies are segmented into specific research areas, each requiring a high level of expertise as evidenced by publications and/or patents:
Post Code – 01 (1 Post, UR)
- Essential Qualification: PhD (Submitted) in any branch of Natural Sciences or MD.
- Desirable Experience: Proven research experience in Metabolic engineering or Synthetic Biology. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in genome engineering of microorganisms supported by original research publication(s) in SCI journals and/or granted patents.
Post Code – 02 (1 Post, UR)
- Essential Qualification: PhD (Submitted) in any branch of Natural Sciences or MD.
- Desirable Experience: Proven research experience in the area of human microbiome. Expertise in functional characterization of human microbiota is required, as evidenced by original research publication(s) in SCI journals and/or granted patents.
Post Code – 03 (1 Post, SC)
- Essential Qualification: PhD (Submitted) in any branch of Natural Sciences or MD.
- Desirable Experience: Proven research experience in Human Infectious Diseases (non-tuberculosis) caused by bacterial or parasitic pathogens. Research expertise should focus on host-pathogen interaction, virulence regulation, and/or cell biology of the pathogen, backed by original research publication(s) in SCI journals and/or granted patents.
Job Description for All Posts: The selected candidates will be required to establish their independent research program, guide PhD students, and participate actively in IMTECH’s institutional activities.
