Recruitment: Director/Executive Director in Autonomous Bodies of Department of Biotechnology (DBT)

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) is inviting applications and nominations for the posts of Director / Executive Director on a deputation (including short-term contract) basis for seven (07) institutions under the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (iBRIC).

Vacant Positions and Location

Terms of Appointment

• Pay Scale: Level-16 in the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (₹ 2,08,700+) with usual allowances.
• Method of Recruitment: Deputation (including short-term contract).
• Tenure: Maximum period of 5 years.
• Age Limit: Not exceeding 58 years as on the closing date of application receipt.

Eligibility Conditions

Candidates must be Scientists from Central/State Governments, Research Institutes, Autonomous Bodies, or Government-funded Research Organizations who meet the following criteria:

1. Experience & Pay Scale:

• Holding an analogous post on a regular basis in the parent Cadre/Department.
• Having 1 year of regular service in a post of Level 15 or equivalent.
• Having 4 years of regular service in a post of Level 14 or equivalent.

2. Educational Qualification (Ph.D./M.D.):

• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in:
  • Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Chemistry / Computational Biology / Pharmaceutical Sciences / Agricultural Sciences / Plant Sciences / Veterinary Sciences / related disciplines; OR
• Ph.D. in Engineering or Technology in disciplines like Chemical/ Biomedical / Pharmaceutical engineering; OR
• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) in any branch of medicine from a recognized University or Institute.

3. Minimum Experience:

• Minimum Twenty years of Research and Development experience in the field of Biotechnology / Life Sciences after possessing the minimum educational qualification.

4. Desirable:

• Experience in successfully running large programs, centers, or institutions.
• Experience in guiding research activities in the area of specialization.
• Proven track record, including excellent publications in reputed journals, high number of citations, patents, and awards.
