Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a leading Indian engineering and manufacturing giant, has released a notification for the engagement of a retired professional for the post of Assistant Technical Consultant (Pharmacist) at its Electronics Division (EDN) in Bengaluru. This is a crucial role for managing the healthcare and pharmacy operations within the unit.

🎯 Mandatory Eligibility Criteria (As on November 1, 2025)

Applicants must meet the following conditions as retired employees from PSUs, Autonomous Organizations, Central/State Government, or Statutory Bodies:

  • Age Limit: The applicant should not be more than 63 years of age. (Note: VRS retirees are eligible only after attaining 60 years of age).
  • Educational Qualification: Full-time Diploma (minimum) in Pharmacy is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 20 years of work experience in the area of pharmacy is essential.
  • Grade Level: Should be a retired worker of BHEL equivalent grade of Artisan level or above.

💼 Key Roles and Responsibilities

The Assistant Technical Consultant will be responsible for a wide array of activities critical to the unit’s Occupational Health Centre (OHC) and medical services:

  1. Procurement: Managing the procurement of medicines through Rate Contract.
  2. Inventory Management: Overseeing the issue and maintenance of stock registers for medicines, and maintaining the Pharmacy Software for accountability.
  3. Beneficiary Services: Issuing medicines to BHEL/EDN beneficiaries.
  4. Medical Check-ups: Assisting in the coordination of regular and periodic medical check-ups for employees (above 40 years, their spouse) and workers in hazardous areas.
  5. Bill Scrutiny & Entry: Assisting doctors in the scrutiny and entry of medical bills received from Empanelled Hospitals, Labs, Doctors, and employees (both serving and retired).
  6. Coordination: Liaison with empanelled healthcare providers and medicine manufacturers.
  7. Statutory Compliance: Ensuring statutory obligations are met concerning Bio-Medical Waste, Ambulance services, and Para Medical Staff Works Contracts.

  • Travel Reimbursement: Outstation candidates called for interaction will be reimbursed travel expenses (AC-II Sleeper by rail, or equivalent actuals by road).
