
The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence, has announced an opening for a Project Research Scientist – I (Non-Medical). This position is hosted by the Department of Biochemistry at Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, and is funded under the prestigious PM ABHIM (Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission) by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
The project is titled “Development of Innovative Diagnostics for Fungal Diseases in India: Addressing a Neglected Public Health Concern,” aiming to create robust diagnostic frameworks for fungal infections that often go undetected in the Indian healthcare landscape.

Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications
- Applicants must hold a Post-graduate degree (M.Sc./M.Tech) or an Integrated PG degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Biochemistry
- Microbiology
- Biotechnology
Desirable Experience
- Hands-on expertise in handling microbial and fungal cultures.
- Experience in performing diagnostic assays (ELISA, PCR, etc.) using clinical biological samples.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and data management.
Roles and Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be expected to:
- Manage daily laboratory operations and execute research activities as per the project timeline.
- Maintain strict adherence to institutional working hours (8:30 AM to 5:00 PM).
- Ensure meticulous documentation of experimental data and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for diagnostic validation.
