
IIT Gandhinagar has announced an opening for an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow within the Department of Biological Engineering. This high-impact research role focuses on the development of advanced medical materials and drug delivery systems.
Project Overview
Title: Development of Bioinspired Hydrogel Adhesives for Minimally Invasive Internal Wound Sealing
This project sits at the intersection of chemistry, biology, and clinical application. The fellow will work under the mentorship of Prof. Mukesh Dhanka, whose lab focuses on translatable healthcare technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting up experiments for the synthesis and characterization of novel polymeric hydrogel platforms.
- Developing self-assembled hydrogels for drug delivery and clinical use.
- Working on animal models for Gastrointestinal (GI) wounds, anastomosis, and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
- Collaborating across various IITs and drafting grant proposals.
Eligibility & Requirements
The institute is looking for highly motivated PhD holders from diverse scientific backgrounds.
- Educational Qualification: PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Nanotechnology, Clinical Biochemistry, Veterinary Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Material Sciences.
- Academic Record: * Minimum 60% (or equivalent) from Graduation onwards.
- Minimum 55% in Class 10th and 12th.
- Preferred Skills: Chemical synthesis, cell culture, microbiology, and prior experience with GI wound animal models.
- Thesis Status: Candidates who have recently defended their thesis and are ready to join immediately are encouraged to apply.
