
The Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, is seeking qualified Indian nationals for a temporary research project. The project, titled “Exploring the marine ecosystems for novel bio resources with human health and industrial significance,” has two positions available: Project Scientist – I and Senior Research Fellow (SRF). All appointments are temporary and will be valid until March 31, 2026, subject to annual performance reviews.
Position Details 🔬
1. Project Scientist – I
- Number of Posts: 2
- Upper Age Limit: 35 years
- Salary: ₹56,000 per month plus 18% HRA.
- Essential Qualification: A Doctoral degree in Science or a Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology.
- Desired Profile: Candidates with a Ph.D. in any life science field and significant experience in microbiology, pharmacy, molecular biology, virology, marine biology, natural products chemistry, or drug screening are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience with advanced techniques like NGS, LC/MS-MS, HPLC, proteomics, or metabolomics is a plus.
2. Senior Research Fellow (SRF)
- Number of Posts: 1
- Upper Age Limit: 35 years
- Salary: ₹42,000 per month plus 18% HRA.
- Essential Qualification: An M.Sc., M.Tech., M.Pharm., or M.V.Sc. degree in Life Sciences or a related field with at least 55% aggregate marks. A minimum of two years of research experience is mandatory.
- Desired Profile: Preference will be given to candidates who have qualified NET/GATE/GPAT. Those with over two years of research experience in applied biology, biotechnology, drug screening, or bioprospecting are preferred. Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS), molecular biology techniques, or proficiency in computational biology is also highly valued.
