St. John’s Research Institute Hiring Bioinformatician for Maternal & Child Health Project

St. John’s Research Institute (SJRI) is seeking a Project Research Scientist I (Non-Medical) to join a temporary research project in Bangalore. This role, with a specialization in Bioinformatics, focuses on an important study on maternal and child health, specifically investigating how genetic factors and the gut microbiome influence nutrition and body composition.

Job and Eligibility

  • Position: Project Research Scientist I (Non-Medical) – Bioinformatician
  • Number of Vacancies: One
  • Location: Bangalore
  • Salary: A consolidated salary of ₹72,800 per month.
  • Qualifications: You should have a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Statistical Genetics, or a related field. Both freshers and experienced candidates are welcome to apply, but those with experience in the field will be given preference.
  • Age Limit: The upper age limit is 35 years.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will play a crucial role in the project by performing a variety of bioinformatics tasks, including:

  • Conducting genome-wide association studies (GWAS) using large datasets.
  • Analyzing microbiome sequencing data to understand its relationship with health outcomes.
  • Developing and applying polygenic risk scores (PRS) for disease risk prediction.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of nutrition scientists, molecular biologists, and clinicians.
  • Maintaining reproducible workflows and contributing to research publications and reports.
