
The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, is inviting applications from eligible candidates for purely contractual positions under a research project. This important initiative is funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, and aims to study the genetic profiles of major bacterial pathogens affecting young infants.

Project Details and Supervision
- Project Title: “Genomics of K. pneumoniae and E. coli from young infants in India.”
- Principal Investigator: Dr. Neelam Taneja, Professor and Head, Department of Medical Microbiology, PGIMER, Chandigarh.

1. Project Research Scientist – II (Molecular Microbiology/Biotechnology) – (One Post)
- Essential Qualification: A First Class Post Graduate Degree (including integrated PG degrees) in Life Sciences with a specialization in Biotechnology or Microbiology.
- Essential Experience: Three years of post-qualification experience in Microbiology and Molecular Biotechnology.
- Age Limit: Maximum age is 40 years.
2. Project Research Scientist – II (Genomics/Bioinformatics) – (One Post)
- Essential Qualification: A First Class Post Graduate Degree (including integrated PG degrees) in Life Sciences with a specialization in Biotechnology, Microbiology, or Bioinformatics.
- Essential Experience: Three years of post-qualification experience in Microbiology, expertise in Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) (both short and long-read sequencing), and competency in Bioinformatic analysis.
- Age Limit: Maximum age is 40 years.
3. Project Technical Support-I – (One Post)
- Essential Qualification: B.Sc/M.Sc. in Life Sciences with a specialization in Biotechnology, Microbiology, or Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT).
- Desirable Experience: Experience in sample collection, sample processing, Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST), and basic computer knowledge.
- Age Limit: Maximum age is 28 years.

- Shortlisting: Only candidates who strictly meet the essential qualifications will be considered for shortlisting and called for an interview.
- Interview Process: No separate interview letters will be dispatched, and candidates must make their own arrangements. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
- Age Relaxation (Scientist Posts): A relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit will be provided for Project Research Scientist-II posts (Sr. No. 1 & 2) for exceptional candidates demonstrating strong professional experience and a good publication track record.
