PGIMER Chandigarh Research Openings: Detecting Drug-Resistant Pathogens (ICMR Project)

The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, is inviting applications for several contractual positions for a research project funded by ICMR-New Delhi. The project, titled “Innovative Technologies for Detecting Drug-Resistant Priority Pathogens in India to Improve Patient Outcomes,” is led by Dr. Neelam Taneja, Professor and Head, Department of Medical Microbiology.

The positions are on a purely contractual basis, and only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.

Vacancy Details and Qualifications

The project has openings for two types of research roles across different domains:

1. Project Research Scientist -III (Non-Medical)

Detail	Requirement
No. of Posts	One (1)
Essential Qualification	First Class Post Graduate Degree in Microbiology with PhD in a relevant subject, and experience in Medical Microbiology and Molecular Biotechnology.
Desirable Qualification	At least three publications in the relevant field and experience in handling clinical samples.
Age Limit	45 years

2. Project Research Scientist -III (Bioinformatician)

Detail	Requirement
No. of Posts	One (1)
Essential Qualification	First Class Post Graduate Degree in Bioinformatics with PhD in a relevant subject and three years of experience in WGS analysis, along with knowledge of various bioinformatic tools.
Desirable Qualification	At least three publications in the relevant field and experience in handling clinical samples.
Age Limit	45 years

3. Project Technical Support-II

Detail	Requirement
No. of Posts	Four (4)
Essential Qualification	B.Sc./M.Sc in Life sciences (Biotechnology, Microbiology, Medical Laboratory Technology).
Desirable Qualification	Experience in sample collection, sample processing, AST (Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing), and basic computer knowledge.
Age Limit	30 years
