Panjab University Seeks Guest Faculty for M.Sc. Microbial Biotechnology: Rs. 50,000/Month Honorarium

The Department of Microbial Biotechnology at Panjab University, Chandigarh (South Campus, Sector-25) has invited applications for the post of one Guest Faculty to deliver lectures for the M.Sc. (Microbial Biotechnology) program during the odd semester of the academic year 2025-2026.

Position Details and Remuneration

The assignment is purely on a lecture basis and offers competitive compensation for the role.

Post: Guest Faculty
Assignment Period: Odd semester of the academic year 2025-2026.
Compensation: An honorarium of Rs. 1,500/- per lecture, subject to an upper limit of Rs. 50,000/- per month.
Note on Fellowship: Candidates currently availing JRF or other scholarships in the University are not entitled to the monetary honorarium but will receive an experience certificate for their service as Guest Faculty.

Essential Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must strictly meet the following academic and regulatory requirements:

Educational Qualification: A Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Microbial Biotechnology, or an allied subject, secured with at least $55\%$ marks (or equivalent grade). A $5\%$ relaxation is provided for reserved categories and for Ph.D. degree holders who obtained their Master’s Degree before September 19, 1991.
NET/SLET/SET Mandate: The candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or a similar accredited test (SLET/SET).
Ph.D. Exemption Clause: Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. in accordance with UGC regulations, or those registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July 11, 2009, are exempted from the NET requirement, provided they fulfill stringent conditions, including:
- Ph.D. degree awarded in regular mode.
- Evaluation by at least two external examiners.
- Conduct of an open Ph.D. viva voce.
- Publication of two research papers from the Ph.D. work, with at least one in a refereed journal.
- Making at least two presentations in conferences/seminars based on the Ph.D. work.

Desirable Qualification: A Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or allied fields is highly desirable.

Application Procedure and Interview

Interested candidates must submit both soft and hard copies of their application by the deadline.

Application Proforma: Applicants are required to use the prescribed proforma (“Direct recruitment assistant professor application form as per ugc regulation 2018. pdf”) available on the Panjab University website.
Soft Copy Submission: The filled application form, along with self-attested copies of all relevant documents/certificates, must be emailed to the Chairperson at chairdmbt@pu.ac.in.
Hard Copy Submission: The hard copy of the same documents must also be submitted to the office of the Chairperson, Department of Microbial Biotechnology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, by the due date.
Submission Deadline: Applications (both soft and hard copies) must be received latest by 24-11-25.
Interview: The interview will be held in the office of the Chairperson. Shortlisted candidates will be notified of the date and time via e-mail. Candidates must bring all original certificates for verification.

Note: A No Objection Certificate from the present employer must be submitted with the application. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
