The School of Chemistry at the University of Hyderabad, a top-tier center for chemical research in India, is inviting applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF). Working under the mentorship of Dr. Vinaykumar Kanchupalli, the selected candidate will dive into advanced synthetic methodology, exploring sustainable routes to complex molecular architectures.
Research Frontier: Next-Gen Heterocyclic Synthesis
The project, titled “Design and Synthesis of novel Alkylidene Based bis-Heterocycles via Transition-Metal Catalysis or Photo Catalysis,” focuses on developing efficient chemical transformations.
This research is pivotal for drug discovery and materials science, as it seeks to build complex bis-heterocycles using two of the most powerful “green” activation methods in modern chemistry:
- Transition-Metal Catalysis: Utilizing metals to lower activation energy and enable precise bond formation.
- Photo Catalysis: Leveraging light energy to drive chemical reactions under milder, more environmentally friendly conditions.
Who Should Apply?
The institute is looking for a dedicated researcher with a flair for organic synthesis and a strong grasp of how molecules interact.
Eligibility & Preferences:
- Education: Master’s degree (or final semester) in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry.
- Certification: Candidates with NET or NET-JRF qualifications are preferred.
- Experience: While the project provides training, prior hands-on experience in photochemistry or transition-metal-mediated reactions is a significant advantage.
