The study focuses on the impact of chronic inflammation on long-term iron balance in women of reproductive age living with HIV. Utilizing advanced iron isotope dilution methods, the research aims to understand iron absorption and losses to improve public health outcomes for this demographic.
Job Details & Responsibilities
- Role: Research Assistant
- Location: Bangalore
- Project Nature: Hospital-based cohort study involving clinical, nutritional, and laboratory components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participant Management: Recruiting eligible candidates, obtaining informed consent, and maintaining long-term follow-up.
- Coordination: Building rapport with hospital staff and ensuring smooth sample collection, transport, and storage.
- Documentation: Managing accurate study records and ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines (SOPs).
- Lab Assistance: Supporting laboratory procedures specifically related to iron isotope dilution (comprehensive training provided).
Eligibility & Skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Nutrition, Life Sciences, Nursing, MLT, or Social Work.
Required Skills:
- Communication: Fluency in English, Kannada, and Hindi is preferred. Knowledge of Tamil or Telugu is an added advantage.
- Technical: Basic computer proficiency (Excel) and a willingness to learn stable isotope methods.
- Interpersonal: Ability to engage sensitively with participants and work effectively within a clinical team.
