The CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), a premier research laboratory under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), has announced a major recruitment drive for over 40 temporary positions. This is a significant opportunity for M.Pharm and M.Sc. graduates in various disciplines to contribute to cutting-edge research projects.

The institute, known for its multidisciplinary strengths in areas like organic chemistry, pharmaceuticals, catalysis, and chemical engineering, is seeking highly motivated candidates for several project-based roles. The selection process will be a walk-in interview conducted over two days: August 21st and 22nd, 2025.

Candidates who meet the specified criteria for age, educational qualifications, and experience are invited to attend the interviews. It is mandatory to bring a duly filled application form (downloadable from the CSIR-IICT website) along with one set of attested copies of all relevant documents, including educational certificates, proof of age, and any valid NET/GATE scorecards. All original certificates must also be presented for verification.

  • August 22, 2025 (9:30 AM – 10:30 AM registration): Interviews will be held for Post Codes 14 to 32.

Key Vacancies for M.Pharm and M.Sc. Candidates

A large number of positions are available for candidates with a background in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and related fields. Some of the key roles include:

  • Senior Project Associate (Senior-PAT): Two positions are open for M.Sc. in Chemistry or M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry with at least three years of experience in process chemistry or organic synthesis. The stipend is an attractive ₹42,000 per month plus HRA.
  • Senior Research Fellow (P) / Project Associate-II (PAT-II): These two positions are for a project on “Bio-Active Marine Natural Products.” Candidates with an M.Sc. in Chemistry or M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and two years of R&D experience are eligible.
  • Project Associate-I (PAT-I): A total of 10 posts are available for M.Sc. in Chemistry or M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry for a project on “Bio-Active Marine Natural Products.” The stipend for NET/GATE qualified candidates is ₹31,000 + HRA, while others will receive ₹25,000 + HRA.
  • Project Associate-I (PAT-I): Eight posts are available for a project titled “Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients for Affordable Health Care.” The role is open to candidates with an M.Sc. in Chemistry or M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

In addition to these, there are several other openings for M.Sc. graduates in various disciplines, including Life Sciences, Biotechnology, and Microbiology, for projects ranging from battery technology to computational chemistry and biopolymer production.

Important Information for Applicants

  • The age limits for these positions are relaxable for candidates belonging to statutory groups (SC/ST/OBC/Women) and PWD as per Government of India rules.
  • Candidates who have previously served for six years or more in any CSIR lab are not eligible.
  • The engagement is purely temporary, initially for a period of up to six months, and may be extended based on project needs and performance.
  • No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
