Indian Railways Announces Exclusive Recruitment for 105 Pharmacist (Entry Grade) Posts

The Indian Railways, through its Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), has announced a major recruitment drive for 105 posts of Pharmacist (Entry Grade). This exclusive opportunity is open to eligible candidates across the country who hold a diploma or bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.

The official notification, CEN-03/2025, will provide detailed information on the vacancies, eligibility, and the application process. Aspiring candidates are advised to apply online through the official websites of the respective RRBs.


Key Highlights of the Vacancy

  • Total Vacancies: 105 (across all RRBs).
  • Pay Scale: Pay Level 5 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, with an initial pay of ₹29,200.
  • Age Limit: Candidates must be between 20 and 35 years old as of January 1, 2026. Age relaxation will be provided for reserved categories as per government rules.
  • Medical Standard: The required medical fitness standard is C2.

Eligibility and Application Process

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications:

  1. A Diploma in Pharmacy with a 10+2 in Science or equivalent, and a valid registration as a Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948.
  2. A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharma) from a recognized university, and a valid registration as a Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948.

The application process is strictly online. Candidates can apply through the official RRB websites and must choose only one RRB to apply to. Submitting multiple applications will lead to the rejection of all entries.

Important Dates

  • Opening of Online Application: August 9, 2025
  • Closing Date for Application: September 8, 2025 (23:59 hours)
  • Last Date for Fee Payment: September 10, 2025
  • Application Modification Window: September 11 – 20, 2025 (with a non-refundable fee)

Application Fee

  • ₹500 for all candidates (excluding the categories below), of which ₹400 will be refunded upon appearing for the CBT.
  • ₹250 for SC/ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minorities, and EBC candidates. This entire amount will be refunded upon appearing for the CBT.

Selection Procedure and Examination

The selection will be based on a Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by Document Verification (DV) and a Medical Examination.

The CBT will be a 90-minute examination with 100 multiple-choice questions. It will have negative marking of 1/3rd for every wrong answer. The question paper will be divided into the following sections:

  • Professional ability: 70 marks
  • General Awareness: 10 marks
  • General Arithmetic, General Intelligence and Reasoning: 10 marks
  • General Science: 10 marks

Candidates must secure a minimum qualifying mark (UR/EWS: 40%, OBC/SC: 30%, ST: 25%) to be considered for shortlisting. The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the CBT.
