
The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad), Department of Biotechnology, is seeking applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position. This opportunity is part of a research project funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Government of India.
Project Focus
The research project is titled “Mechanisms of chimeric peptide production and targeting dipeptide repeat toxicity in C9orf72-associated ALS/FTD.” The selected JRF will be responsible for conducting experimental research, analyzing data, and interpreting results as assigned by the Principal Investigator (PI). This project offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in neurodegenerative diseases.
Duration and Compensation
The initial duration of the project is 7 months, with a possibility of extension based on performance and continued funding.
Monthly Compensation:
- ₹37,000 + HRA for candidates selected through national-level examinations like GATE, CSIR-UGC NET, or other Central Government-approved tests.
- ₹31,000 + HRA for candidates who do not fall under the above category.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Educational Requirements:
- MTech in any area of Life Sciences/Biotechnology.
- M.Sc degree in any allied area of Life Sciences/Biotechnology.
- BTech/B.Pharm/BE (4-year degree program) in any allied area of Life Sciences/Biotechnology.
- BVSc, MBBS.
- All degrees must have a minimum of 60% marks and should have been awarded.
Desirable Qualifications: Candidates with prior experience in molecular cloning and working with model organisms such as yeast and/or Drosophila will be given preference.
Age Limit: The age limit for applicants is 28 years. Age relaxation will be provided as per norms for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories, women, and physically handicapped individuals.
Selection Process
- Candidates will be shortlisted based on their merit, alignment with project requirements, and performance in the interview.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be notified via email for an interview, which will be conducted online shortly after the application deadline.
- The selected candidate will be informed via email and is expected to join immediately.
- The decision of the selection committee will be final.
- This is a purely temporary position, and the appointment will be governed by the terms and conditions of IIT Hyderabad and the funding agency.
