
The CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT) is inviting applications from eligible candidates for the Ph.D. program under the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) for the January 2026 session.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification:
- Master’s Degree: A Master’s degree in science with a minimum of 55% marks (or 50% for OBC/SC/ST/PwD candidates).
- 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree: A 4-year or 8-semester Bachelor’s degree program with a minimum of 75% marks (or 70% for OBC/SC/ST/PwD candidates).
- National-level Fellowship: Applicants must possess a valid national-level fellowship, such as JRF/SRF from funding agencies like CSIR, ICMR, UGC, DBT, DST, or any equivalent fellowship like DBT-BET, INSPIRE, GPAT, or GATE.
Specific Disciplines
- Biological Sciences: This includes a wide range of disciplines, such as Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Plant Sciences, Food Technology, and Pharmaceutical sciences.
- Chemical Sciences: This covers Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, and Natural Product Chemistry.
Special Provisions for Project Assistants/Associates
Project Assistants/Associates currently working at CSIR-IHBT can also apply under specific conditions. They must have worked in a sanctioned R&D project for at least one year. Those who have not qualified for a national-level examination must have at least one publication in an SCI journal. Those who have qualified for a Ph.D. qualifying national-level examination (e.g., NETLS, GATE, BET) are exempt from the publication requirement. CSIR Group III/IV staff are also eligible to apply with the approval of their Lab Director.
