
The Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, is recruiting for a critical public health project. This role focuses on the genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2, emerging pathogens, and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) using wastewater samples.

Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc.
- OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technology, or Medicine.
- Minimum 55% aggregate marks (relaxation as per GOI norms).
- Experience: At least 2 years of R&D experience in academic or industrial institutions.
Age Limit:
- Maximum 35 years (as of January 21, 2026). Age relaxation applies per GOI rules.
Technical Requirements
Desired Skills:
- Proficiency in Microbiology and Molecular Biology techniques.
- Hands-on experience with PCR / qPCR / dPCR and nucleic acid isolation.
- Experience in Library preparation for Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS).
- Preference for candidates who have qualified for NET / GATE / GPAT.
Job Responsibilities:
- Processing of sewage/wastewater samples.
- Nucleic acid extraction and RT-qPCR analysis.
- Performing NGS library preparation and sequencing runs.
