
The St. John’s Research Institute (SJRI), Bangalore, is inviting applications for a high-level Research Associate III position. This role is part of the DBT-INDIGO Project, an international collaboration between India, the EU, and the US aimed at developing next-generation influenza vaccines with higher efficacy and better accessibility.
Project Overview: The INDIGO Initiative
The project focuses on overcoming the limitations of current flu vaccines (which often have only 40% effectiveness) by developing two novel concepts:
- Adjuvant Enhancement: Combining low doses of commercial vaccines with potent new adjuvants.
- Needle-Free Delivery: Developing recombinant HA vaccines delivered via intradermal patches, allowing for potential self-administration and improved immunological memory.
Position Details
- Post: Research Associate III (DBT-INDIGO Project)
- Salary: Rs. 54,000 + 24% HRA per month
- Location: Bangalore

Eligibility & Preferred Qualifications
| Criteria | Requirement |
| Education | PhD in Life Sciences (preferably in Immunology) OR a Master’s in Life Sciences. |
| Experience | Minimum 3-4 years of relevant research experience. |
| Technical Skills | Expertise in advanced multiparameter flow cytometry, immune transcriptome analysis, T-cell immunity, cell sorting, and qPCR. |
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Immune Assays: Setting up and interpreting data for human immunology, including cell culture, stimulation, and subset purification.
- Scientific Leadership: Demonstrating the ability to lead research tasks, with a track record of first-author publications.
- Laboratory Management: Handling administrative duties such as ordering consumables, financial record-keeping, and supervising junior staff.
- Communication: Interpreting scientific literature and presenting primary data using specialized software.
