Bridging the gap between academic research and professional practice, the Department of Pharmacy Practice at SIMATS College of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), recently concluded its “Virtual Poster Showcase 2026.” The five-day event, held from April 6–10, served as a premier digital stage for 128 budding researchers and scholars to present their findings to a national audience.
Fostering the Next Generation of Scientists
The showcase was designed to sharpen scientific communication and research aptitude. Participants presented e-posters across 21 subject areas, ranging from core pharmaceutical sciences to allied health sectors.
The event featured a high-profile inaugural ceremony with key industry figures, including Dr. Roop Narayan Gupta (National President, IPA) and Shri J. Jayaseelan (President, IPA Tamil Nadu State Branch). Under the guidance of Principal Dr. Ramaiyan Velmurugan and Program Coordinator Dr. Rathinavelu Mohanraj, the initiative emphasized the importance of mentorship in the evolving healthcare landscape.
Rigorous Evaluation and Mentorship
A standout feature of VPS 2026 was its structured feedback loop:
- Expert Assessment: 19 specialized slots were moderated by expert evaluators.
- Scientific Merit: Presenters were judged on the quality of their data, methodology, and presentation delivery.
- Knowledge Exchange: Interactive Q&A sessions allowed scholars to receive direct critiques, helping refine their research for future publication.
Conclusion and Recognition
The event wrapped up with a valedictory session led by Dr. T. Satish (Hon. Gen. Secretary, IPA Tamil Nadu). Successful participants were recognized with e-certificates, marking their contribution to the growing body of pharmaceutical knowledge. By leveraging Google Meet, SIMATS and the IPA have successfully demonstrated that virtual platforms can effectively sustain a robust research culture and foster academic excellence.
