
The National Institute of Immunology (NII), a premier research institution under the Department of Biotechnology, has announced a vacancy for a Project Assistant to work on a specialized research project. Research Project Overview
The selected candidate will join the project titled “Decoding the Circadian and Microbial Drivers of Neuroimmune Dysfunction in Chronic Toxoplasma gondii Infection.” This study, funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), explores how chronic parasitic infections affect neurological health through the lens of biological clocks and gut-brain interactions. The project is scheduled to continue until March 20, 2029.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
Educational Background
Applicants must hold an M.Sc. or M.Tech degree from a recognized university in one of the following disciplines:
- Immunology or Neurology
- Biotechnology or Biochemistry
- Microbiology or Molecular Biology
- Any related field of Life Sciences
Technical Expertise
NII is seeking candidates with a strong foundation in laboratory research, specifically:
- Molecular Biology: Proficient in PCR cloning, Recombinant DNA technology, TA/Gateway cloning, and Site-directed mutagenesis.
- Wet Lab Skills: Experience in cell and tissue culture and the analysis of DNA, RNA, and proteins.
- Animal Research: Hands-on experience in animal handling is highly desired for this specific study.
Compensation and Benefits
- Monthly Emoluments: ₹20,000/- (Consolidated).
- House Rent Allowance (HRA): 30% of the base pay (approx. ₹6,000/-), totaling ₹26,000/- per month.
- Duration: The contract is for an initial period of one year, with potential extensions based on performance and project needs.
