
The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), a premier autonomous research institute under the Department of Biotechnology, is inviting applications from qualified Indian nationals for several temporary research positions. The vacancies are for various projects funded by national and international agencies.
This is a significant opportunity for researchers and scientists at different career stages, from Ph.D. holders to master’s and bachelor’s degree graduates, to contribute to cutting-edge research in fields such as Biochemistry, Cell Biology, and Molecular Biology.
Vacancies and Eligibility
The following positions are available:
- Project Scientist (PS) I, II, and III:
- Age Limit: 35 years (PS-I), 40 years (PS-II), and 45 years (PS-III).
- Emoluments: Ranging from ₹56,000 + HRA to ₹78,000 + HRA.
- Essential Qualifications: A Doctoral Degree in Science or a Master’s in Engineering/Technology. Experience requirements vary by level, from no experience for PS-I to seven years for PS-III.
- Research Associate (RA) I, II, and III:
- Age Limit: 40 years.
- Emoluments: Ranging from ₹58,000 + HRA to ₹67,000 + HRA.
- Essential Qualifications: A Ph.D., M.D., M.S., M.D.S., or equivalent degree. Candidates with an M.Pharm or M.E./M.Tech degree with at least three years of research experience and one publication in a Science Citation Indexed (SCI) Journal are also eligible.
- Project Associate (PA) I and II:
- Age Limit: 35 years.
- Emoluments (PA-I): ₹31,000 + HRA for NET/GATE qualifiers and ₹25,000 + HRA for others.
- Emoluments (PA-II): ₹35,000 + HRA for NET/GATE qualifiers and ₹28,000 + HRA for others.
- Essential Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences, or a Bachelor’s in Engineering, Technology, or Medicine. PA-II requires two years of R&D experience.
- Project – Junior Research Fellow (JRF):
- Age Limit: 35 years.
- Emoluments: ₹31,000 + HRA for NET/GATE qualifiers and ₹25,000 + HRA for others.
- Essential Qualifications: A Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or a Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in a Professional Course.

Applicants are required to submit a Statement of Purpose (maximum 200 words) explaining how their skills and experience are relevant to the position. Soft copies of all supporting documents, including certificates for date of birth, educational qualifications, and reservation category, must be uploaded.
Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview, which will be conducted through video conference. The decision of the Director, CDFD, will be final. Candidates who applied for advertisements issued in May and June 2025 are not eligible to apply again for these positions.
