The Siddha Central Research Institute (SCRI), a premier center under the Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS), has announced openings for specialized research positions. Located within the Anna Government Hospital campus in Arumbakkam, SCRI is a hub for preclinical and clinical studies, integrating traditional Siddha medicine with modern scientific validation.

The institute is currently seeking experts for projects involving DNA Barcoding, molecular markers, and plant taxonomy to enhance the standardization of Siddha formulations.

Available Positions & Compensation

1. Senior Research Fellow (SRF – Biotechnology)

Vacancies: 01
Emoluments: ₹42,000 per month + 30% HRA (as per CCRS norms).
Tenure: Initially 1 year, extendable up to 2 years based on performance.
Age Limit: 32 years (Relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD as per Govt. rules).

2. Project Associate (Botany)

Vacancies: 01
Emoluments:
- ₹31,000 + HRA: For candidates with NET (CSIR-UGC/GATE) or National-level selection.
- ₹25,000 + HRA: For other eligible candidates.
Tenure: Initially 1 year, extendable up to 2 years.
Age Limit: 35 years (Relaxation applicable).

Eligibility & Skills Required

For SRF (Biotechnology)

Essential: M.Sc. in Botany, Plant Sciences, Biotechnology, or Life Sciences with a Ph.D. OR 3 years of research experience post-graduation.
Technical Expertise: Must have hands-on experience in DNA Barcoding, DNA extraction, PCR amplification, and sequencing.
Software Skills: Proficiency in bioinformatics tools like MEGA, BLAST, and databases such as BOLD and GenBank.

For Project Associate (Botany)

Essential: Post Graduate Degree in Botany.
Desirable: Experience in Plant Taxonomy, field collection, and herbarium techniques.
Job Role: Conducting field trips for botanical collection, documenting GPS coordinates, and assisting in the digitization of herbarium specimens.
